Monorail Walt Disney World

September 28, 2008 · Posted in Touring Tips · Comment

If you are like me, riding the monorail is a must do when we go to Walt Disney World.  If you have a little time on your hands next time (sometimes you have to wait a few rides), see if you can ride up front with the Captain.  There is a limit of 4 people that can ride.  In order to do this, you need to ask the cast member all the way in the front of the monorail.

The video below is one of the trips that we took from the transportation center to Magic Kingdom.  I want to get the transportation center to Epcot on video. Since we will not be park hopping this time, I guess it will have to wait until our trip in March.

Captain Jack Sparrow Gallery

If you and your kids are fans of Pirates of the Caribbean and Captain Jack Sparrow, there is a show that takes place near the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World that you will not want to miss.

It is called Captain Jack Sparrow’s Tutorial and it is sure to entertain you.  Pick up a times guide when you enter the park to see what times he will be appearing.

Check out my video below.  Captain Jack almost runs me over as he makes his escape.

I came across this today and just had to post it.  This guy (obviously very talented) built a version of Soarin right in his backyard. Too cool!

Power Rangers

September 26, 2008 · Posted in Attractions · Comment

If you have a son between the age of 4 and 8, you may want to put time in your schedule for the Power Rangers.  They appear 5 times a day to sign autographs at Disney Hollywood Studios on the Streets of America in front of Lights, Motor, Action.  The times will be listed on the times guide.

The picture below is my son getting an autograph with the green ranger which I hear has now been replaced by the blue ranger (we will find out when we go in October).  The video shows their entrance in their Power Ranger vehicle.

Quick note:  The Red Ranger is always the most popular.  If you are facing Lights, Motor, Action, he signs autographs on the left hand corner.

Garden Grill Epcot

September 26, 2008 · Posted in Dining · Comment

Epcot has numerous great restaurants to choose from.  One of my favorites is The Garden Grill.  It is located in The Land pavilion in Future World.  The restaurant revolves (very slow) along the scenes from the Living with the Land boat ride.

The booths face outwards which makes for a very private dining experience.  They serve both lunch and dinner.  Meals are served family style with platters for the tables.  The meal includes rotisserie meats, grilled flank steak, and fried catfish.  I love the fried catfish.

Oh and do not forget your autograph books because you are joined by Mickey Mouse, Pluto, Chip and Dale.  The picture on my about me page was taken at The Garden Grill.  As always, I would make reservations in advance.

Single Riders Line

September 26, 2008 · Posted in Touring Tips · 3 Comments

On some of the bigger thrill rides they have a line that can save you a lot of time, it is called the single riders line.  If you are going on the ride by yourself or your party does not mind being split up, this is the way to go.

In this line, you get put with others who have an odd number of riders.  Most of the time, you do not wait more than 15 minutes.  I found out about this line a few years back. We were at Animal Kingdom and my son had fallen asleep, so I was going to use that opportunity to ride Expedition Everest.  Well, the stand by line was over an hour wait and the return time for the fast pass was later than we were planning on staying.  A lady over heard my husband and I talking and told me about the single riders line.  I went in that line and only waited about 10 minutes.  Thank you.

The rides that offer this are Rockin Rollercoaster – Expedition Everest – Test Track.

My Favorite Mickey Picture

Crystal Palace Walt Disney World

September 25, 2008 · Posted in Dining · Comment

One of my favorite places to eat at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World is the Crystal Palace.  The main reason is because you are joined for three meals per day by Winnie the Pooh and his friends: Tigger, Piglet, and Eyore.  It is located on a pathway at the end of Main Street, USA.

My son loves the interaction with the characters as you can tell by the picture below with Piglet. Kids, do not forget your autograph books.

It is an all you can eat buffet.  Breakfast buffet includes a full variety of traditional breakfast food.  Lunch includes a salad bar, deli bar, pasta dishes, chicken and fish.  Dinner includes split roast beef, chicken, pasta, fish, and carved meats.

If you are planning on dining at The Crystal Palace, I recommend that you make reservations in advance.

Must See List for Walt Disney World

September 25, 2008 · Posted in Touring Tips · Comment

There are so many wonderful things to do at Walt Disney World.  Unless you are staying for 3 weeks, it is probably impossible to see everything especially if you are bringing kids.  Because of this, an important part of my touring plan is coming up with my must see list.  I make sure that I can fit these into my day before doing some of the other attractions.

Here is my list:

Magic Kingdom

Splash Mountain – Big Thunder Mountain – Pirates of the Caribbean – It’s A Small World – Buzz Lightyear – Space Mountain – Mickey’s PhilharMagic – Indy Cars (my son)

Epcot

Test Track – Soarin – Mission Space – Turtle Talk – Spaceship Earth – Universe of Energy - Chinese Acrobats

Animal Kingdom

Kilimanjaro Safaris – Festival of the Lion King – It’s Tough to be a Bug – Expedition Everest – Finding Nemo – The Musical

Hollywood Studio

Beauty and the Beast – Indian Jones – Power Rangers (my son) – Star Tours – Tower of Terror – The Great Movie Ride
